Monster’s owner Tara was interviewed about her fashion style. Check out what she had to say about party fashion, holiday fashion, and her fashion pet peeve.
H & T: What does fashion mean to you?
TS: For me, fashion is all about looking cute, but also being comfortable. I also really like to support local artists, and my fashion shows it! Everything in my store is made by local artists, and I like to show it off.
H & T: Who are your favorite designers.?
TS: They change all the time. Having a clothing store, I’m really spoiled be cause I always get to see the latest stuff from local designers. Right now I’m really loving sweater skirts, and leg warmers made by Seattle artist Sho Shana. She cuts up old sweaters, and makes them into wonderful, warm, and cute things! I’m also a huge fan of Glam Could’s pin-up style dresses.
H & T: Whats your go-to outfit?
TS: In the winter, I wear a lot of dresses with leggings and boots. I have a beautiful, handmade, coat by the Bella Sisters that I wear with everything. It’s black and red with some grey tweed. It matches all my stuff!
H & T: Whats your best style advice? Wear what makes you happy, and is flattering to your figure.
H & T: Whats your biggest fashion pet peeve?
TS: Definitely people who wear tight leggings, and you can see right through them. Cover up with a longer length shirt, tunic or a skirt. Nobody wants to see your camel toe. Have some self-respect!
H & T: Whats your best Holiday Fashion advice?
TS: I love to wear red, and lots of sparkle! Anything that glitters really gets me in the Holiday mood. I also really recommend some fingerless cashmere gloves (like the ones we sell at Monster). Super soft, and you can still text in them.
