As Many of you know, Monster’s owner, and creator of Revival Ink clothing: Tara Monster got married to her long time boyfriend, Eric VanBuren on August 3rd, 2013. So many of Monster’s friends and customers have inquired about her Crafty, Steampunk, Burner, Wedding: so here are some of the highlights!
We rented a beautiful park for the whole weekend. My friends and I spent months hand crafting all the Steampunk themed decorations, and made quite the task force to transform the venue on the morning of the big day. Our ceremony was held under a huge tree, in front of a creek. The wedding colors were Steampunk Purple, and Emerald green. Everyone was decked out in their finest Victorian Era, Steampunk fancy attire. Immediately following the ceremony, our friends from Honk Fest, a marching band called Chaotic Noise, got everyone dancing. Then, it was time for food. We had a potluck, so there was quite a variety of treats to go with the hot dogs, and hamburgers. We cut the cake, and our best man gave a heart-felt toast that almost made me cry! For the toast, we did slap-shots (our burner tradition). No champagne for us! For the slap, you get to pick mild, medium, or spicy. After the temperature is selected, you get slapped in the face, and a shot of your favorite booze to chase it with. I chose a locally made chai vodka, while Eric stuck with his old favorite, Whiskey. We tangoed to our favorite White Stripes song “Conquest”. Then threw the bouquet. I’m happy to report that my cousin who caught the bouquet, actually got engaged that night!
We set up a photo booth with lots of funny props, and gave away vintage key necklaces we hung from our “giving tree.” Then, had fun playing in the creek, getting all our finery wet. As dusk approached, it was time for the fire show. Two of our very talented friends wowed the crowd with fire fans, and a fire staff! I feel so fortunate to have so many talented friends and family in my life who donated their skills to make my wedding the most magical day! I’m especially grateful to the talented photographers, Aerial Nurse, EspessoBuzz, and Mel Levin who captured the moments so I can remember them forever! I have a lot more photos in My Wedding Flicker Album and my Facebook Page. See all the hilarious Photo Booth photos on Flicker. We spent our Honeymoon at Burning Man, which was very appropriate since Eric proposed to me there last year. We built a triceratops art car named Tracy.
